Cooperation between administrations in the area of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) is one of the main objectives of the TECNIMAP Workshops. The content of the portion of the workshop dedicated to Presentations is, along with EXPOTECNIMAP, the most technical. The experiences and solutions offered here are a melting pot of the work of the public administration’s ICT professionals and also highlight the results of collaborative efforts with Spanish ICT companies.
The aim of Presentations session is twofold. On the one hand, the goal is to disseminate the knowledge and experiences acquired by public and private sector professionals in the course of working on different modernisation projects involving the application of Information and Communication Technologies and on the other hand to create a bank of good practices to facilitate the transmission of this knowledge and experience. Sharing and disseminating experiences will help those faced with similar needs or projects, saving the ever scant resources in our organisations and making us more effective and efficient.
These workshops will focus on three key aspects. The first has to do with making public services fully available to users electronically, without barriers in terms of time, space, resources or knowledge. The second is an appeal to transparency, the reduction of administrative workloads and ease of use to ensure an open, effective, efficient and high quality administration for users. The third aspect, which addresses the concept of sustainability, refers to the need to align public policies and hence administrative actions in order to foster a change in the productive model that is more respectful of our complex and ever-evolving environment.
The enactment of Law 11/2007 on the electronic access of citizens to public services, has required an enormous effort to improve public services and to develop an Electronic Administration in Spain. Everyone responsible for electronic services has been working and continues to work on adapting all procedures, services and processes not only to comply with the terms of the law but also to foster the use of electronic services by citizens and to gauge the demand for and use of these services. Their work has also focused on reducing the operating costs of public administrations while simultaneously improving public service levels, disseminating and distributing the new electronic services available to citizens and promoting interadministrative cooperation.
Coinciding with the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2010 and in keeping with the effort to bring the Tecnimap Workshops to European administrations, we will also be accepting presentation topics from the administrative branches of the EU and any of its member countries.
